It’s astonishing to know that Microplastics are entering the human body through exposure and ingestion or inhalation the partials. This is the Canary in the Coal Mine warning us humans to stop using plastics. The plastic partials have a far reach from Antarctica to the arctic circle and are now spread right through the food chain. We have seen the impact to animals from sea turtles dying after mistaking plastic bags as their food source, Jelly Fish. In Apex hunters such as sharks are recording massive levels of plastic in the system, and this is passed through to humans once we consume the fish.
The leaching of plastic can lead to an array of health impacts, including inflammation, genotoxicity, oxidative stress, apoptosis, and necrosis, which are linked to an array of negative health outcomes including cancer, cardiovascular diseases, just to name a few.
We at Promotional Range are making a conscious effort to faze, out the use of plastics in our range and we are transitioning to the use of RPET or recycled plastics to help reduce the waste, with the end goal of elimination of plastic products in our range completely. We have already seen a massive swing in the trending of promotional products to more sustainable items and the same is now happening with Promotional Pens. The demand for Plastic pens is still high but we are now limiting our offering to supply Branded Pens that have a longer writing life, this in turn stops to some degree excess or short use Plastic pens.
Might some dramatic and a problem too hard to handle. Yes, the task is massive to try to reverse what damage has been done. That does mean that we cannot repair our world and by starting at grassroot or ground level, if everybody changes their behaviour just a little, we can reverse the damage. Maybe not completely but certainly can make a difference.
